Gold and silver can fall in price. They pay no income, can be volatile, and are bought and sold at a spread to spot — you pay more than spot to buy and receive less to sell.

I own physical gold and silver. I don’t currently take payment to cover a company or a dealer, and this disclaimer will be updated if that ever changes. Some pages may show ads, chosen by Google rather than by me; an ad is not a recommendation. Pages where you enter your own holdings never show ads.

Every figure links to its source. If you find an error, email hello@debasementbasement.com — corrections are made on the page, not quietly edited away.

The calculators give estimates. Prices are indicative spot, not dealer quotes, and tax figures are simplified. The coin checkers compare a coin with the mint’s published specifications; they cannot authenticate it.
